Presented by Hon. Karen Arnold-Burger, Chief Judge Kansas Court of Appeals, and Hon. Kevin Moriarty (ret.), Moriarty Mediation.
This two-hour ethics presentation will focus on Kansas attorneys who successfully devoted their professional time and resources and used their civic influence to ensure equal access to our system of justice. The presentation will be divided between (1) pre- and post-statehood lawyers who helped us to realize the Free State of Kansas and govern it after the Civil War, (2) women attorneys who stepped forward to fight for the cause of universal suffrage and (3) Kansas lawyers in the 20th Century who fought for equality and equal access during the turbulence of reconstruction and the civil rights movement. The program will end with ways attorneys can continue to pursue the same lofty goal through volunteering for programs.
This CLE will be held in-person only at the Doubletree Hotel in Overland Park.
Approved for 2.0 hours of CLE credit in KS & MO, including 2.0 hours of ethics.
